RE: Indiana State Parks-Another State to Bypass !

kknowlton--sorry, never said I did not believe you ONLY quoted the Indiana SP fee schedule per their site. If they do not charge the $7 fee except for the first day, wonderful. However, that is not what the site says. If you are correct, they certainly need some work on their site.
You would have thought I accused the Hoozier basketball team of cheating the way I was attacked for only quoting a SP's web page.
Even without the daily gate fee, their rates are on the high side compared to "most" but not all state parks in the nation.
For the record, I know of no state that has a entrance fee that waves it for campers.

RE: Indiana State Parks-Another State to Bypass !

missileer- apparently you believe the Indiana SP's web page is "web scripture". It says as I quoted there is a $7 a day gate fee and "NOWHERE does it say campers are exempt. Please spare me the lecture, you are not qualified to give it.

RE: Indiana State Parks-Another State to Bypass !

I only quoted the State of Indiana. Did any of the three people trying to throw me under the bus actually go to the State Parks of Indiana web site and read their rates. I QUOTED THEM WORD FOR WORD. I do not know what someone paid and Missileer, I may not have lots of experience but "I can read." Now before you respond, PLEASE read what the State of Indiana SP's web page says are their entrance and camping fees.
I really do not make this stuff up.

RE: Indiana State Parks-Another State to Bypass !

Some of the responses on this subject are pure bogus, being kind. First, Indiana charges $7 a day gate fee not only the first day. From their web page and I quote; $7 daily gate fee ($10 at Indiana Dunes SP) for noncommercial vehicles which do not have Indiana license plates. Admits driver and passengers.
Second, their camping fees are:
Electric; Sun_Wed $17 and Thurs-Sat $25 Holidays Weekends $28
Full Hook-ups; Sun-Wed $24 Thurs-Sat $34 Holiday Weekends $38
All these PLUS the $7 a day entrance fee.
Yes, compared to other states they are out of line.
States like Oregon, no entrance fee and maximum $18 for full hookups; TN no entrance fees and $17.50 to $20.50 maximum camping fees. NM, AR and MO two more States with no entrance fees and excellent SP.
You cannot compare SP to private campgrounds only to other State Parks.
For those who say buy a yearly pass, what if you are only going to be there two days? Bogus comparison.
I will uses these states like Indiana, Michigan and others with high camping cost only if passing through. My planned trips are to the states will excellent parks and no entrance fees.
AR even gives 50% discount to anyone Mon-Thurs and 25% Fri-Sat.
I agree with the poster Indiana charges way out of line.

Nascarcruzin--I would answer you but talking and quoting religion is against the rules and I could not properly answer you without breaking these rules. Surprised you did not know that!!

RE: Pep Boys Auto 500 from Atlanta

Whine--whine-whine. Lets face it, "The best team is winning the Chase." They certainly donot need help from Nascar nor or they getting it. They have earned ever point they own. Not my favorite but they are the best "team" this year as well as the last two years. As one person said, Chad maybe the Best Pit Crew Leader ever. Johnson is a very good smart driver who listens to Chad and together, they are awesome.
What they accomplished Sunday after being a lap down was what Gordon & his team did when he won all those championships. Jimmy & Chad have earned the respect of all the drivers and everyone should quit whining long enough to enjoy greatness because that is exactly what you are seeing.
Me, I will still pulled for Jeff Burton but I am wise enough to recognize greatness when I see it.

RE: List products that ARE made, grown or assembled in the US

Many of the items mentioned are not totally made in America. Example, Chevy Trucks, Stihl & Poulan chain saws; These all have multiple parts made abroad and assembled here. Mercedes Benz & Nisan vehicle all made abroad and assembled here just like Toyota and Honda. Before you yell at me, I agreed, better assembled here that made AND assembled abroad.
It is very sad but other than many food products, very few thing made in USA. No TV's, steros, or electronics of any kind. You cannot buy a wall clock made here. I looked at 6 major stores and could not fine one made here. Now about that tooth paste, a very high percentage is made abroad and on label says, distributed by some american company.
The best example so far I believe is tools. We still make great tools and I will not buy one made abroad because most of the metal they use is soft.
Last, as far as kids, there are a lot of them also here "made abroad" not that there is anything wrong with that as Senfield says.

RE: NASCAR - more cheating?

There is no question this was intential cheating. They should suspend the whole team for the remainder of the year. Unless they won, they did not figure to get caught. They knew, based on prior history, winning was not an option so they decided to cheat to move up in points.

RE: will liquor freeze??????????/

I have always kept peace flavored brandy in the freezer. It is great to take a straight shot when you have a cold or sore throat. It does not freeze and it is less alcohol than most whiskey. Leave it and you will be just find unless some of these guys find out where you live.

RE: This is a question for the guys....

Most of you are missing a point. There is a big difference between eating at home and in a restaurant. There is also a big difference in restaurants. You would not go into a fancy restaurant in shorts or a hat. However, the local coffee shop, BQ places, or Denny's, fast food and etc, most people "do not" take off their hats. I know of no one, me included, who does not take their hats off at home. As far as Texas Cowboys, they take their hat off only for one thing.

RE: synthiic oil in your vechicle

His whole arguement is bogus. First, changing your oil every 3000 miles is unnecessary for most people. Most vehicles manuels call for changing your oil evrery "10,000 miles" under normal driving conditions. I have a Toyota and that is exactle what the manuel says.
The quick lube places that wanted more of your business are the ones that falsely sold the idea with TV ads that you needed to change your oil every 3000 miles so they could fatten their pocket books. If the author bought this, I need not read futher.
Are synthetics worth the money, I do not know and have never used.

RE: Social Security

Ken--when you change your address with SS, they send a copy to your old address for security reasons. Example, if someone else changed your address and they only sent it to the new address, you would not even know about it. Banks do the same thing, again for security reasons. They will also notify you by mail if you change your bank where direct deposit are made. Liriope

RE: Pushing and shoving going on in the NW garage at Lowes

I love Harvick and do not agree Edwards is the better of the two drivers. Edwards picked on the wrong guy to "get in his face." Harvick will not be able to buy his own beer for a month as Edwards is one of the least liked drivers in the garage. His own teammates do not like him and that was before Sundays wreck.

RE: Helio Castroneves indicted

Unaware he was not paying his taxes,,,pleeeeease!! Lets quit making excuses for cheats. Believe me, the IRS sent him several letter "Before" indicting him. You do not indict a famous person like him without first warning him and also having a strong case.
As far as tough times as someone mentioned. he makes millions each year. That is real tough.
